Marco Rubio Net‌ ‌Worth And Income Sources

Senator Marco Rubio Net‌ ‌Worth at a Glance

Senator Marco Rubio Net‌ ‌Worth is ~$5 million estimated based on our research and the latest news.

Senator Marco Rubio Net‌ ‌Worth Overview

Marco Antonio Rubio makes money through several book deals and his salary as a US Senator.

According to his most recent financial disclosure and the tax returns that were revealed during his bid for President of the United States, he made nearly $900,000 annually in certain years[1]. Still, that most recent financial disclosure didn’t exactly show how much he was worth.

There is very little information on his net worth that is verifiable. That makes Marco Rubio Net‌ ‌Worth hard to calculate.

Senator Marco Rubio Income

His main source of income that has been recorded is from his salary as a US Senator. Marco Rubio earns anywhere from $174,000-$200,000 annually[2]. However, he has also earned a lot of money from the 3 books that he has written.

Marco Rubio Income Source 1: Salary as a United States Senator

Marco Rubio has been a United States Senator from Florida since 2010.

Marco Rubio makes a base salary of $174,000 in his role as a US Senator.

Marco Rubio Income Source 2: Book Deals

Marco Rubio’s tax returns were released in 2016 when he unsuccessfully sought the Republican Nomination for President of the United States. His tax returns showed that though he had a normal salary of $176k as a US Senator, Marco Rubio’s net worth was boosted by repeated windfalls from book deals.

Since winning the election to an office in Washington, he has earned from $276k to $939k every single year.

Marco Antonio Rubio wrote 3 books[3]:

  • 100 Innovative Ideas for Florida’s Future (2006)
  • An American Son: A Memoir (2012)
  • American Dreams: Restoring Economic Opportunity for Everyone (2015)

He has also written the foreword to a book by Ronald Reagan called “The Heart of a Great Nation: Timeless Wisdom from Ronald Reagan” published in 2020.

If we take an average of the above-mentioned figures from 2012-2021, we can get:

($276k to $939k)/2 x 5 years = ~$3 million

Note that this estimate is about not Marco Rubio’s net worth but about his income which can be higher than our estimate of $3m.

Net worth is largely determined by the market’s valuation. E.g., stocks, properties, government bonds are typical choices for one’s asset allocation.

When it comes to Marco Rubio’s net worth from book royalties, one typically looks into the average income produced (say $3m a year), then applies a multiple (say 2-4X).

Since Marco Rubio is an American politician, there might be an extra premium for buying his royalty rights if he wants to sell.

It’s also important to note that book sales don’t stay constant forever – they could go up or down. So does the estimated Marco Rubio Net‌ ‌Worth.

Marco Rubio Controversies

Marco Rubio falsely claimed that his parents were forced to leave Cuba in 1959.

Marco Rubio denied that he made false statements, instead saying that his family history was based on lore.[23]

Based on his lifetime voting record in the senate, we found the following which might be a source of controversy:
