Joshua David Hawley was born in Springdale, Arkansas on December 31, 1979. His father, Ronald Hawley is a banker and his mother, Virginia Hawley is a teacher. The family moved to Lexington in Missouri when Ronald joined Boatmen’s Bancshares.

Josh Hawley went to Lexington Middle School and Rockhurst High School, a private prep school in Missouri. He graduated as a valedictorian in 1998 . He was a very charismatic child and displayed leadership qualities at an early age. Many of his teachers thought he would become president one day. 

Josh Hawley was a prolific writer and author for the Lexington News, his high school newspaper. He displayed a tenacity for politics from an early age because many of his journalistic endeavors included topics such as the American militia movement and the coverage of Mark Fuhrman, a detective at the Los Angeles Police Department. 

He would pursue history at Stanford University. His mother also studied at the same university. Josh Hawley would graduate from Stanford University with the highest honors and membership to Phi Beta Kappa. His biggest mentor at Stanford University was David Kennedy, who would contribute to Hawley’s book, “Theodore Roosevelt: A Preacher of Righteousness”.

Hawley had his sights on bigger goals and formed a campaign committee for the US Senate. He would declare candidacy for the US Senate Elections in 2017 – his opponent would be Claire McCaskill.

Hawley’s most famous (or infamous) moment as a US senator came on January 6, 2021, when the US Capitol was stormed. Hawley would give a raised fist to protestors outside the Capitol.
