John Anthony Barrasso was born on July 21st, 1952, in Reading, Pennsylvania. His parents were John Anthony Barrasso Jr and Louise M. Barrasso.
Barrasso attended Central Catholic High School and graduated in 1970. He then studied at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute before transferring to Georgetown University. Barrasso graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.
John Barrasso then studied at the Georgetown University School of Medicine. He graduated with an M.D. degree in 1978. He then performed his residency in New Haven, Connecticut, at Yale Medical School.
John Barrasso moved to Wyoming in 1983 and joined a private orthopedic practice in the city of Casper [3]. He worked as a board-certified orthopedic surgeon from 1983 to 2007.
Barrasso served as State President for the Wyoming Medical Society and as President for the National Association of Physician Broadcasters. Barrasso was also a prominent member of the American Medical Association Council of Ethics and Judicial Affairs.
