Mike went on to earn a degree in Economics from Wabash College. He graduated summa cum laude and served as President of the Student Body. Mike also attended Harvard Business School to earn his MBA in 1978. 

He would co-found Crystal Farms, Inc., a successful business that would grow to become one of the largest third-party logistics specializing in turkey in the Midwest. 

Mike had his eyes set on moving from the manufacturing sector to the distribution markets. This resulted in the formation of Meyer Distributing. Today, Meyer is reputed as an industry leader in auto parts distribution.

Mike Braun demonstrated his leadership skills time and time again from his high school years through to college and beyond. He saved his father’s business from completely falling apart and led it to a multi-million dollar company. Together with his wife, he grew a large real estate business and owns hundreds of acres that generate thousands in revenue. 

He also acquired Meyer Body Inc and grew it into one of the most influential logistics companies in Indiana. But his biggest accomplishment yet was winning the election campaign for the U.S. Senate.

He voted for Democrats from 1996 until 2012 and likely contributed to the victory of Barack Obama, a staunch opponent of the Republican Party and its policies.

His excuse for voting Democrat is that Dubois County at the time didn’t have any Republican candidates. This excuse did not fly well with his base because Dubois county has been a swing county with a strong Republican presence.
