Chris Farley was born Christopher Crosby Farley on 15th February 1964. His place of birth is Madison, Wisconsin. He was the son of Mary Anne and Thomas John Farley. His father was an owner of an oil company.

Farley had three brothers and one sister. His brothers John and Kevin Farley are also actors and comedians. In addition, he has a cousin Jim who currently serves as the CEO of Ford Motor Company.

Farley’s childhood was spent in Maple Bluff in Wisconsin. He attended Edgewood High School of the Sacred Heart. In 1986, he enrolled at Marquette University where he graduated with a double major in theater and communications.

Chris Farley Career

Farley worked in his father’s Scotch Oil Company located in Madison. He later switched his career to the theater. He learned improvisational comedy from his teacher Dennis Kern at the Ark Improv Theater.

Farley performed at the Improv Olympic and Second City Theater.  He played alongside now famous TV host Stephen Colbert. Due to his excellent performance, he got to play on the main stage in 1989.

In 1990, Farley got a breakthrough in TV when he was selected as a cast member of the NBC show Saturday Night Live. He collaborated with various actors for the show including Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, and Rob Schneider. The group became popular as the ‘Bad Boys of SNL’ due to their ill-behaved but comical antics on the set. Sandler had later revealed that he and Farley were fired from the show in 1995 due to their outlandish jokes off the set.[1]

Farley has appeared in many comedy films. Some of the notable films he has appeared in include Tommy Boy, Coneheads, Beverly Hills Ninja, Black Sheep, Wayne’s World, and Airheads. His films Tommy Boy and Coneheads were particularly successful and gained a cult following. His films Dirty Work and Almost Heroes were released posthumously in 1998. He also has an uncredited role in the film Billy Madison.

In 1997, Farley died due to an overdose of ‘speedball’ that is a combination of cocaine and morphine. He was found dead by his brother in his apartment in December 1997. His funeral was attended by over 500 individuals including many celebrities who worked with him.
