Brent Spiner was born on 2nd February 1949. His place of birth is Houston, Texas. He belongs to Jewish parents Sylvia and Jack Spiner. His father who owned a furniture store died of kidney failure when he was 10 months old. His mother was a corporate VP of a company. She married Sol Mintz after the death of his father.

Spiner studied at Bellaire High School located in Bellaire, Texas. He was greatly inspired by his high school drama teacher Cecil Pickett. He enrolled at the University of Houston but dropped out to pursue his acting career.

Brent Spiner’s acting career started in the 1970s in New York when he played in various Broadway plays.[1] He played notable roles in Sunday in the Park with George and The Three Musketeers.

In the 1980s, Spiner made brief appearances in several TV series such as Night Court, The Twilight Zone, and Mama’s Family. He also appeared in the film Rent Control released in 1984.

Spiner’s breakthrough came when he was cast as Commander Data in the TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1987. He appeared in all seven seasons of the TV series. In addition, he also appeared in four spin-off films released between 1994 and 2002.

He played the guest role of Dr. Aril Soong in the Star Trek: Enterprise TV series in 2004. The actor made his last appearance as Data in the TV series Star Trek: Picard in 2020.

Spiner’s role in Independence Day in 1996 as Dr. Brackish Okun earned him a Saturn Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He reprised his role in Independence Day: Resurgence, released in 2016.

Music Career

Brent Spiner released his debut album in 1991 titled Ol’ Yellow Eyes is Black. It is the only album released by the actor. The song’s name is a reference to the yellow contact lens he wore when playing the Star Trek character Data.
