Pimp C was born Chad Lamont Butler in Crowley, Louisiana. His date of birth is 29th December 1973. His father’s name was Charleston Butler and his mother was Welyn Butler Jacob Monroe. He was born prematurely due to which he suffered various health issues growing up.

Pimp C developed an interest in music as his father was a trumpet player. During his childhood, he used to sing Negro spirituals and Italian sonnets. He could play many instruments including trumpet, piano, flugelhorn, and a trumpet when he was a kid.

Musical Career

Pimp C was encouraged to write and sing songs by his stepfather Bill Monroe. He was interested in hip hop and created a band called Underground Kingz (UGK) in 1987. The rapper created UGK with his friend and fellow rapper Bernard who is more popularly known as Bun B.

UGK signed up with independent label company Big Tyme Recordz. The group released two EPS in 1992 titled Banned and The Southern Way. The same year the group signed with Jive Records and released the debut studio album titled Too Hard to Swallow.
