Ted Cruz was born Rafael Edward Cruz on 22nd December 1970. His place of birth is Calgary in Alberta, Canada. Cruz’s father Rafael Cruz immigrated to Canada from Cuba. His mother Eleanor Elizabeth has mixed Italian and Irish ancestry.

Cruz’s family later moved to Texas. He attended Awty International School and later Faith West Academy in Houston. In 1988, he completed High School as a valedictorian.

Ted Cruz worked as a clerk for two years after completing his law degree. He joined the law firm Cooper & Kirk, PLLC in 1997. He joined the presidential campaign of George W. Bush in 1999 as a policy advisor.
