Jason Mewes’s acting career started in 1994 when he was cast as Jay in the film Clerks. The film was a success and his role was closely associated with the film.

Mewes’s next breakthrough came in 1995 when he played the role of Jay in Mallrats. He played the same role in the films Chasing Army and Dogma released in 1997 and 1999, respectively.
