Early Life Immortal Technique and Career

Felipe Andres Coronel was born in a military hospital in Lima, Peru. He is of Amerindian descent but also has French, African, and Spanish ancestry. His family migrated to Harlem in New York in 1980 to escape the Peruvian Civil War.

During his early life, Felipe was arrested multiple times for his selfish and childish behavior. He attended Hunter College High School, where he was classmates with Lin-Manuel Miranda and Chris Hayes. During Hunter College High School, he was a bully to his fellow students [4]. This was reported by Lin Manuel Miranda and confirmed by Chris Hayes. However, the 2 have become friends since then.

He enrolled in Pennsylvania State University for his college degree but was arrested later for assault-related offenses. This was due to his involvement in a fight with other students. He was incarcerated for a year as a result.

He took political science at Baruch College in New York City after he got parole. This was at the behest of his father. This continued for 2 semesters.

He honed his rapping skills in jail. After his release, he could not find a decent-paying job, so he started his music career. He then began selling his music on the streets of New York and battling with MCs. This has made him a fantastic battle mc.

He won several freestyle rap competitions in New York in the underground hip-hop scene. This led to a rise in his reputation. He released his first album Revolutionary Vol. 1, in 2003, without any record label or distribution. Felipe’s debut was financed with the money he earned during his freestyle rap battle triumphs. This is remembered as the unsigned hype.

In 2004, Immortal Technique released his second album as a sequel to the first. Revolutionary Vol. 2 received the coveted Hip Hop Quotable in The Source, specifically for the song Industrial Revolution. He became the first rapper and the only one to date to have a Hip Hop Quotable without being signed by any label. The unsigned hype didn’t continue, however, since he was signed by a major record label soon after.

In 2005 he began work on The Middle Passage and The 3rd World, both sequels to Revolutionary Vol 2. During this time, he also released a free compilation album in 2011 called The Martyr.

He is known for his radical left wing perspective, which comes across in his music. He has kept his personal life very private, and no one knows about his relationships or his family life. While Immortal Technique dating rumors fly around all the time, he never engages.

As of late, he has done major philanthropic and counseling work. Immortal Technique urged fans to contribute to philanthropic causes such as Rebel Army Runs. He has visited prisons to speak to the youth and worked with immigrant rights activists to raise money for children’s hospitals. He has created a writing grant program for high school students as well.

He has also traveled to Afghanistan with the profits from The 3rd World and helped Omid International build an orphanage without any external funding. It currently houses 20 orphaned children from Kabul.
