Ed Bassmaster created his first YouTube channel titled ‘edbassmaster vlog’ on 1 Nov 2005. He mainly posted videos of him bass fishing on this channel.
Bassmaster’s career as a comedian and YouTube celebrity took off when he posted a prank video on a new channel he had created – Ed Bassmaster – in December 2006.
The prank videos posted on his channel started getting millions of views. In the late 2000s, he left his full-time job at AT&T to concentrate on his YouTube career.

Ed Bassmaster attracted a lot of controversies when he ‘murdered’ a Canadian hitchhiking robot named hitchBot in 2015. The robot was designed by Canadian professors at Ryerson University in Ontario.
It was a science experiment to gauge human compassion. The robot relied on human compassion and generosity to move from one city to the next.
The hitchBot made it across Canada and Europe to the US. But its journey was cut short in Philadelphia when he was assaulted and damaged beyond repair.[6]
The murder of the robot was solved the same month when it was revealed that the crime was committed by none other than Ed Bassmaster. It was found that Bassmaster along with his YouTube celebrity friend Jesse Wellens had dismantled the robot as a prank for their video.
