Chris Broussard was born on 28th October 1968 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His mother is Cheryl Broussard and his father is Edward Broussard who worked as a personal manager for Traveler’s Insurance Co. 

Due to the nature of his father’s job, his family traveled extensively during Childhood. They lived in different places while he was in high school including Cincinnati, Ohio, Cleveland Ohio, Syracuse, New York, Indianapolis, Indiana, and Des Moines Iowa.

Inducted into the School’s Hall of Fame 

Broussard completed his high school diploma from Holy Name High School in Cleveland, Ohio in 1986. He played point guard and was both great at basketball and football in high school. He was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame in 2016. 

After Holy Name High School, he enrolled at Oberlin College and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English from Oberlin College in 1990. He played point guard as a basketball player.

In 1990, Broussard founded a Christian preaching organization called the K.I.N.G. movement. He married his wife Crystal Naii Collins in 1995. They had dated for a few years before tying the knot. The couple is blessed with twin daughters that they named Alexis and Noelle Broussard.

Broussard’s career as a sportswriter started in 1990 when he worked for Cleveland Plain Dealer.[1] In 1994, he moved to the Akron Beacon Journal where he covered NBA games and NBA countdown. He went on to work for the New York Times in 1998 where he covered the New York Knicks.

In September 2004, Broussard joined ESPN The Magazine team. He also started appearing on the ESPN TV channel as an NBA sports analyst. He was added as an Insider to ABC’s NBA Countdown for the 2011/12 season.

Broussard left ESPN for FOX Sports Radio 1 in 2016. He became a regular panelist on the Skip and Shannon: Undisputed, Lock It In, and The Herd shows. In August 2021, Broussard started co-hosting First Things First replacing former NFL host Brandon Marshall.[2]

In 2018, Broussard started co-hosting The Odd Couple with Rob Paker. The show can be heard on Sirius XM Channel 83 and FOX Sports Radio.

Chris Broussard Criticism

Chris Broussard received criticism for his remarks made in April 2013 about NBA player Jason Collins on ESPN’s show Outside the Lines. Collins had come out as a homosexual. Broussard remarked to him that homosexual individuals are ‘living in unrepentant sin’ and ‘walking in open rebellion to God’. 

Broussard later clarified that he had offered his personal opinion related to Christianity and concluded that some people disagree with his opinion.
